New '200' Pump is the Genuine Replacement for 044 - Beware of Counterfeits

1 July 2022  Bosch Motorsport

It’s hard to say goodbye to an old friend. After 28 years of setting the standard on dependable fuel supply the Bosch Motorsport ‘044’ Fuel Pump was retired in 2021.

The name ‘044’ came from the pump’s part number: 0 580 254 044. As the product came to dominate the performance in-line fuel pump market, poor-quality counterfeit pumps trickled in to deceive unsuspecting installers. Initially it was easy to spot a fake but eventually the packaging and exterior shell concealing the low-quality internal components became almost impossible to tell apart from a genuine, quality-controlled Bosch 044 pump.

At the time of writing (June 2022), there are very little to no remaining stocks of genuine 044 fuel pumps. Primarily what remains on the market are counterfeit units. These have no guarantee of longevity or performance and we have unfortunately discovered failed counterfeit units in unsuspecting customer installs in the past.

So how do you get genuine 044 pump performance if the pump is discontinued?

Enter the improved ‘200’ fuel pump, flowing ~10% higher at 7bar and weighing 15% less than its predecessor. This pump was specifically designed by Bosch Motorsport to replace the 044 with a stronger and more efficient internal mechanism. At 5bar of pressure, the >275l/h flow rate supports over 600hp at the engine. It is provided with fittings to make it a drop-in replacement for an existing 044 install.

You can benefit from Bosch Motorsport’s continuous improvement by fitting the evolution of the 044’s legacy: the Bosch Motorsport 200 pump.
