Shannons SpeedSeries Technical Profile: Ferrari 296 GT3
Bosch Motorsport is proud to be the Official Technology Partner of the Shannons SpeedSeries and to celebrate, we’ll be taking a deep dive into the technical side of these amazing vehicles throughout the year, to find out how Bosch Motorsport’s range of high-end electronics power them to success.
The Ferrari 296 GT3 was an instant hit in global GT racing following its introduction to the tracks in 2023. The 296 was quick straight out of the blocks in its debut year, taking the toughest endurance race of them all, the Nürburgring 24 Hour, in its first year, setting a distance record in the process.
Further 24-hour success followed with the car taking the GTD Pro class victory at the Daytona 24 hour in 2024, with the car also picking up long distance World Endurance Championship victories at Fuji and Bahrain and taking the GT World Challenge Europe endurance title the same year.
Don’t let those incredible results fool you into thinking the car was only good in endurance races, however. The car was an immediate success when it hit Australian shores in 2024 in the hands of Arise Racing, taking the GT World Challenge Australia title in the hands of Chaz Mostert and Liam Talbot in its debut season.
2025 saw more wins for Arise, missing out on a second consecutive title by the narrowest of margins with Jaxon Evans and Elliot Schutte losing out after a post-race penalty in the final race of the season.
2026 sees two new teams added to the Ferrari stable, with Evans and Schutte being joined in the Ferrari stables by OnlyFans Racing, with Renee Gracie making the switch from Audi and stepping up to the Pro-Am class with two time Bathurst 1000 winner Will Davison.
The pair have quickly gelled to become a formidable duo, with a win at Queensland Raceway giving Gracie her long awaited maiden overall win, which they followed up with a podium at the following round in Darwin.
The second new team, Zagame Autosport, enters the series full-time after their debut round at Hampton Downs last year, with Cameron Campbell joined by three-time TCR Australia champion Josh Buchan. The pair broke a torrid streak of luck to score a maiden podium in Darwin, after Buchan took pole for Sunday’s race.
The 296 has the ultimate Bosch Motorsport high-end electronics package, due to its shared powertrain architecture with the two-time Le Mans winning 499P Hypercar.
TThe highest level of Bosch Motorsport ECU range, the MS7, controls the 3.0L twin-turbo V6. which can produce up to 447kw and 712nm of torque, depending on Balance of Performance. Drivers get all the information they need through our latest cutting-edge display, the DDU10, which doubles as a data logger, meaning the team and engineer are fed the information that they need to succeed.
